Recall

Goal (Short Version)

Answer questions from different topics, earn points by answering correctly, and risk it all in a final wager round.

How to Play

1. Pick Topics

At the start of the game, players (or teams) choose a set of topics.
Examples:

  • World History
  • Science Basics
  • Movies & TV
  • Sports
  • General Knowledge
  • Pop Culture

Each topic contains a set number of questions with increasing point values.

2. Question Phase

  1. A player selects a topic and a point value.
  2. The AI presents a question tied to that topic and value.
  3. All players may attempt to answer.

3. Answering Rules

  • The first player or team to answer gets the chance to respond.
  • If correct → they gain the point value.
  • If incorrect → they lose the point value.
  • Other players do not steal the question.

4. Challenging the AI

If a player believes the AI’s answer is incorrect, they may challenge it.

To succeed, the challenger must prove the AI wrong using one of the following:

  • A reputable website or source
  • A simple majority vote from the group

Outcomes:

  • ✅ Successful challenge → double points awarded
  • ❌ Failed challenge → double points deducted

Once a challenge is resolved, the question is closed.

5. Clearing the Board

Play continues until all questions in all topics are used.
Once the board is cleared, the game moves to Final Call.

Final Call

  1. Each player or team secretly chooses a wager:
    • Any number from 0 up to their current score
    • Players with negative scores may only wager 0
  2. The AI presents one final question.
  3. Players secretly write down:
    • Their answer
    • Their wager
  4. Reveal answers simultaneously.

Scoring:

  • Correct answer → gain the wagered points
  • Incorrect answer → lose the wagered points

The player or team with the highest score after Final Call wins.

Recommendation (Important)

Because Recall uses generative AI, the game works best when:

  • Topics are well-known and widely documented
  • Subjects generally predate January 1, 2025
  • Avoid:
    • Family-specific trivia
    • Hyper-niche topics
    • Lesser-known indie games
    • Extremely recent events

This ensures higher accuracy and smoother gameplay.

Variations

Variant A — Skip Final Call

End the game immediately once the board is cleared.
The player or team with the highest score wins.

Variant B — Timed Questions

Set a timer for each question (recommended 30 seconds, optional 10–15 seconds).

  • Answers must be given before the timer ends
  • Late answers are disregarded
  • The timer also applies to challenges

Variant C — Open Answering

Both teams (or all players) may answer every question.

How it works:

  • Each team submits an answer
  • Teams that answer correctly gain the point value
  • Teams that answer incorrectly lose the point value
  • Teams may still challenge the AI independently
    • Successful challenge → double points gained
    • Failed challenge → double points lost

This creates higher-risk, faster-paced games.

Variant D — Early Final Call

Instead of clearing the entire board, the game moves to Final Call once a set number of questions remain unanswered.

  • Recommended number: 5 questions remaining
  • Groups may choose a different number before starting

Any unanswered questions are ignored.
Scores at that moment determine Final Call wagers.
