Impostor

Goal: For the Group to identify the Impostor, or for the Impostor to evade detection.

1. Setup Phase

  • The AI provides a Secret Word (e.g., “Ocean”).
  • The system or card assigns one random player as the Impostor.

2. Secret Reveal (One-by-One, Trust-Based)

  • All players close their eyes or look away.
  • In turn, players look at the device to see their assignment:
    • Most players see the Secret Word.
    • One player sees “You are the Impostor.”
  • All players close their eyes before the next player views the screen.

3. Clue Phase

  • All players open their eyes.
  • In turn order, each player gives ONE single word that relates to the Secret Word.
  • The Impostor attempts to blend in with a plausible clue without knowing the Secret Word.
  • Restrictions:
    • You may not say the secret word, or any part of the secret word.
    • You may not use direct rhymes, unless the rhyming word relates to the Secret Word conceptually or thematically outside of the sound (e.g., if the word is Flower, you may use Power if you’re thinking that it relates to the Mario Powerup).
    • Clues that have already been used cannot be repeated.

4. Voting Phase

  • On the count of three, all players point to or select the person they believe is the Impostor.

5. Reveal and Outcome

  • The chosen person announces their true role.
